"Tuskegee International School believes that an investment in a child's education pays the best dividends, therefore our doors are open to children from all walks of life. A child not be from a wealthy home to attend Tuskegee International School, a parent just needs to be deeply committed to the quality of the child's education and life."

-Charles Yarfoh, Headmaster

The Tuskegee Intentional School was established in 1998 by Charles Yarfoh and currently enrolls 160 students from Pre-School to JSS 2 (5th Grade). The school primarily services low-income and orphaned children who need assistance in paying for their school fees. The majority of school's students come from single parent families, families of poverty, illiterate parentage, and a number of students have been orphaned by HIV/AIDS. The Tuskegee International School lacks the facilities, materials, and financial backing to fully support the needs of all of its students.

By 2010 The Tuskegee International school hopes to:

  • Employ 15 qualified teachers.
  • Complete and furnish 15 classrooms for the Pre-School to JSS 2 students.
  • Provide scholarships for at least 20 children per year.
  • Provide all students with educational materials necessary for a quality education.
  • Building and Sustaining a School

Over a three year period The Building Fund will donate $6,000 to The Tuskegee International School to complete current construction projects. After the completion of current construction projects The Building Fund will continue to support the maintenance of the school by donating at least $1,000 each year thereafter.

Providing Scholarships for Students

At The Tuskegee International School nearly half of the children attending, because they are orphaned or economically disadvantaged, can not afford their school fees. Each year The Building Fund will provide a minimum of 15 scholarships to students at The Tuskegee International School. Costing only $130, each scholarship will provide a child with the supplies that they need to receive a quality education.

Teachers teaching Teachers

Board of Advisers member and elementary school teacher at the Francis W. Parker School of Chicago, Beverly Greenberg, made her first visit to The Tuskegee International School in the summer of 2006. After her first visit to the school she returned to the school in the winter of 2006 to begin a bi-yearly in-service program. The program, that will be available to teachers at all of the schools partnered with The Building Fund, reviews child development, how to create an environment that supports children's growth, and works with teachers to further develop their teaching skills.
